Gallaero

Project made for the 2026 HackNC Submission within 24 hours

Gallaero is a game where players can upload their own set of images and browse through them within a fully procedurally generated gallery with a Frutiger Aero vibe!

(Anything more than around 200 images might take quite a while to load...)

Inspiration

This project is heavily inspired by DOOM: The Gallery Experience, and various other similar gallery mods for different games.

What it does

In this game, users can freely upload their own images and go around their own procedurally generated gallery! Users can also download and share their own customized gallery with others.

We have uploaded "Game Sprites Map.bin" as something you can download and test.

How we built it

This project is built primarily with GDScript, GDShader, and JavaScript through the Godot game engine, along with other software such as Blender, Aseprite, and FL Studio for modeling, sprites, and music.

Challenges we ran into

Along the way of building the project, we had to restructure our approach multiple times. Several implementations were redone when better approaches were found or when original designs proved impractical, allowing us to improve the overall architecture and adapt to the evolving needs of the project.

What's next for Gallaero

We are thinking of adding a multiplayer function, and if possible, the ability for users to fully customize their own gallery via a builder rather than relying on procedural generation.
